Training

Utah Foster Care Foundation lays the groundwork for successful foster/adoptive families through a full series of training. The Foundation educates families before they are licensed (Pre-service) and after they are licensed (In-service).

Pre-service Training
Pre-service training is required for all caregivers seeking to become licensed foster/adoptive families. The classes are taught in eight, 4-hour sessions for a total of 32 hours.

These classes help to better prepare foster/adoptive families to care for emotionally and behaviorally challenged children, as well as cope with situations that often arise with children in out-of-home care, such as a desire to return home, lack of trust, acting out, etc.

In-service Training
In addition to attending Pre-service trainings to become licensed, foster/adoptive families must attend classes each year to maintain licensure.

Utah Foster Care Foundation offers many classes throughout the state on a monthly basis to help foster/adoptive families maintain licensure.

Training schedules for currently licensed foster/adoptive families are available in the Foster Roster newsletter and on the In-service Trainings page.
