Information Packet - Financial Information
The Division of Child and Family Services (DCFS) provides a reimbursement to foster parents to meet the children’s basic physical needs, including food, shelter, clothing, personal items and recreation. Children in foster care are usually eligible for free school lunch and waived school registration fees. Children under five are eligible for WIC. Limited funds may be available for expenses such as sports, music lessons, and other special needs.
Children in foster care are eligible for a state medical card, which will pay for medical services,
prescribed medication, hospitalization, eye care, dental care and mental health therapy.
Foster parents will be reimbursed monthly for the prior month of service. Computerized payment forms will be sent to the foster home for signature and then returned to DCFS for payment.
