With more than 2600 children in foster care in Utah at any given time, the need for foster parents is greater than ever.
Children in foster care range in age from birth to age 17 and most are in foster care because of neglect or abuse in their homes–in fact, most foster care placements are a result of substance abuse in the home. In addition, most children in foster care have one or more siblings and without families willing to care for siblings, these children may be separated temporarily or even permanently.
Utah’s children in foster care come from diverse ethnic, racial, cultural and religious backgrounds and need families who can provide safe, loving, culturally relevant homes to reduce the shock and confusion that often comes with being removed from everything and everyone they know.
You can help these children by becoming a foster/adoptive parent. This web site will give you an inside look at what it takes to become a foster parent and what it means to care for Utah’s children in foster care, whether temporarily or as a permanent adoptive parent.
