Also, in September, approximately 400 members of foster and adoptive families from across the state are invited to a weekend stay at Aspen Grove Family Conference Center. The weekend includes a family talent show, well-known speakers from throughout the state, and the Aspen Follies team building activities hosted by the Aspen Grove staff. This invigorating and educational weekend is offered because of generous discounts from Aspen Grove and financial contributions from the community. The month of May has been designated as National Foster Care Month. To honor families who currently are making a difference in the lives of children in foster care, UFCF hosts annual picnics, swim parties, and other family activities. These regional events provide social supports that give that give needed recognition and appreciation to resource parents and provide a chance for these families to attend a social event with their entire family without an added cost.
